5 Overnight Itinerary

DAY 1: Afternoon and evening departure from various pick-up points.

DAY 2: Morning arrival in Venice where we'll board a local "waterbus" and transverse the Venetian Lagoon to San Marco Square. We then continue on a walking orientation tour, the best way to see such attractions as San Marco Cathedral, the Rialto Bridge overlooking the Canale Grande and more interesting sights. Your tour leader can organize a romantic gondola ride (not incl, €25) followed by a visit to a glass-blowing factory. After a bit of free shopping time, your tour guide can suggest dinner arrangements (€23) before we check in to our 4-Star Hotel in Venice-Veneto.

DAY 3: After an early breakfast, we depart for Rome, arriving at our hotel in the late afternoon. Relax & freshen up before dinner - your tour guide will assist with arrangements at a popular restaurant (€26) and also provide suggestions for additional evening activities.

DAY 4: Spend the day exploring the "Eternal City" on your own or join us on a full-day optional excursion to Pompeii, Sorrento and Capri (€83 - weather permitting and minimum participation required.) In Pompeii, we visit the excavations of the ancient city destroyed by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. After a ride along the beautiful coast, we arrive in Sorrento where you'll have an opportunity for lunch (not incl) and take advantages of the bargains for inlaid wood and cameos. We'll then board our boat for the journey to the Island of Capri. In the evening, we'll board the boat for the trip to Naples, returning to Rome for our last night in the "eternal city".

DAY 5: The morning is dedicated to the Rome of the Renaissance on our optional tour to the Vatican Museum, the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica (€45; appropriate dress required, i.e. no shorts, muscle shirts, etc.). In the afternoon, our Grand City Tour of Ancient Rome will highlight such sights as the Forum, the Colosseum (when available, entry not incl), the Palatine and the baroque monuments of the Piazza Navona and Trevi Fountain. Check with your tourguide for the evening's entertainment suggestions.

DAY 6: Following breakfast and check-out, we depart Rome for Pisa to visit the leaning Tower and the magnificent Piazza Del Duomo with the over 900 year old Cathedral. Afterwards, we continue to Florence and check in to our hotel; your tour guide assists with dinner arrangements.

DAY 7: After breakfast and check-out, we begin our day in Florence, with a walking tour through the "Cradle of the Renaissance" - seeing such historic sights as the Ponte Vecchio, the Dome, Santa Croce Church (Michelangelo's tomb), Michelangelo's David in the Academia of Fine Arts and more. In the afternoon there's plenty of time for sight-seeing, shopping, or relaxing at one of the sidewalk cafés before dinner at a Florence restaurant situated in the historic "old town". After dinner we begin our return trip to Germany.

LAST DAY: Morning and noon arrival at points of origin.

CHILDREN: 3-12 years of age receive a $50 discount. Under 3, require a bus seat and their own safety seat (not provided), pay $250. Children 12 & under travel at 1/2 price on optional tours.

DOCUMENTS: Valid US Tourist Passport for military & civilian personnel. Military without a tourist passport should check with their Personnel Office or the Foreign Clearance Guide for information on current travel regulations to Switzerland, Austria & Italy. It is the responsibility of NON US CITIZENS to meet proper VISA requirements for ALL countries.

CANCELLATION FEES (Per Person): More than 14 days prior to departure, $80; within 14-7 days prior, $200; 7 days or less, 50% of tour price will be charged.
