2 Overnight Itinerary

DAY 1: Afternoon and evening departure from various pick-up points.

DAY 2: After a breakfast stop (not incl) in Northern Italy, we arrive in Pisa, once rivalling the powers of Genoa and Venice. This ancient Etruscan town reached its zenith in the 12th Century and remains famous today as the home of one of the 'Seven Wonders of the World', the Leaning Tower. After some free time to browse and explore nearby, we then proceed to Florence, "Cradle of the Renaissance", and begin our City Tour beginning with Giottos' Campanile, the Cathedral and the famous Bronze Doors of the Baptistry, known as the "Gates of Paradise". We continue to the statue-studded Piazza della Signoria and visit the historical Church of Santa Croce, burial place of Michelangelo, Macchiavelli and other famous Italian figures. There is also an opportunity to visit the Leather School of Florence where you can learn more about this famous Florentine handcraft. The art of leather work has been taught here for centuries and has played an important role in maintaining the leather industry within Florence. After some free time and lunch at a local Florentine restaurant (€17), we proceed to Rome and check in to our 4-Star Hotel in the early evening.

DAY 3: Spend the day exploring the "Eternal City" on your own or join us on a full-day optional excursion to Pompeii, Sorrento and Capri (€80 - weather permitting and minimum participation {20} required. Price includes entrance fees, headphones, local guide and boat rides.) In Pompeii, we'll visit the excavations of the ancient city destroyed by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. After a ride along the beautiful coast, we arrive in Sorrento where you'll have an opportunity for lunch (not incl) and shopping (excellent inlaid wood & cameo products). We'll then board our boat for the journey to the Island of Capri. In the evening, we board the boat for the trip to Naples and rejoin our bus for the return trip to our hotel.

DAY 4: The morning is free to explore on your own or come with us to tour Ecclesiastical Rome (€45 - price includes entrance fees, headphones and local guide; proper dress required - no shorts, muscle shirts, etc.) - Vatican City, St. Peter's, the Vatican Museum and the Sistine Chapel. Following some free time and an opportunity for lunch (not incl) the afternoon is dedicated to the "Eternal City" as our local guide will unfold the secrets of Ancient Rome. A few of the highlights; the Colosseum (if available, entry not incl), Palantine Hill, Roman Forum, Arch of Constantine and the Pantheon. Time permitting, you can make a wish at the Trevi Fountain or try the delicious ice cream while strolling in the Piazza Navona. In the evening, we suggest a night of feasting, wine and music Roman style at a typical, popular Italian restaurant (€26). before departing for the overnight ride to Venice.

DAY 5: Early morning arrival in Venice and, after breakfast, (not incl), we leave our tour bus to board the water 'taxi' which takes us to St. Mark's Square via the Venetian Lagoon. Here we see the Doge's Palace, Bridge of Sighs, St. Mark's Basilica and the Campanile. While in Venice, there is an opportunity to visit the renowned Murano Glass Works where we will witness the Venetian art of glass blowing. Later, there is time to possibly take a romantic gondola ride (not incl, €25) before we break for lunch (not incl). It's then time to return to our bus and begin our homeward journey via Switzerland; a dinner stop (not incl) is made in Germany, prior to arriving at points of origin early in the morning of Day 6 (Wednesday on normal dates - Tuesday on American Holidays).

CHILDREN: 3-12 years of age receive a $30 discount. Under 3, require a bus seat and their own safety seat (not provided), pay $199. Children 12 & under pay 1/2 price on optional tours.

DOCUMENTS: Tourist Passport for both military and civilian personnel. Military without a tourist passport should check with their Personnel Office or the Foreign Clearance Guide for information on current travel regulations to Switzerland, Austria and Italy. It is the responsibility of NON US CITIZENS to meet proper VISA requirements for ALL countries.

CANCELLATION FEES (Per Person): More than 14 days prior to departure, $80; within 14-7 days prior, $160; 7 days or less, 50% of tour price will be charged.
