2 Overnight Itinerary

DAY 1: Afternoon and evening departure from various pick-up points.

DAY 2: After an early morning breakfast stop in Italy (not incl), we'll arrive in Florence, the "Cradle of the Renaissance" and begin an informative walking tour which features: the Academy of Fine Arts where Michelangelo's David is located (when available, entry not included); the Cathedral with its famed Brunelleschi Dome; the 5th Century Baptistry with its gold mosaic dome and the "Doors of Paradise"; the Franciscan Gothic Holy Cross Church which houses the tombs of Michelangelo, Galileo, Rossini and Macchiavelli; the Ponte Vecchio, the oldest covered bridge in the world; Piazza della Signoria, often referred to as the Painters' Square of Florence and other artistic sights. After lunch (€25) there's time to visit a leather factory and a goldsmith or stroll through an open market prior to checking in to our hotel. Your tourguide can assist with dinner arrangements and the remainder of the evening is free.

DAY 3: We depart early for the unique city of Venice and arrive at Tronchetto in the late morning. We'll then board the local "waterbus" (included) and travel through the Venetian Lagoon to the Piazza San Marco, Venice's bustling religious and political center. Upon disembarking, we continue on a walking tour, the practical way to see such sights as; the Basilica of San Marco, the Campanile, the Clock Tower with the two bronze statues that have been striking the hour for the last 500 years, the Bridge of Sighs and more. Following time for lunch (not incl), we'll visit a glass blowing factory and lace school. Later, you may elect to enjoy a gondola ride (not incl, € 25) through the romantic canals and a hearty Venetian dinner (€23) before we check in to our hotel.

DAY 4: Following breakfast and check-out, we travel to Verona, the city of Romeo and Juliet, the tragic love story which took place in 1304. We'll visit the house of the Capuletti family with the famous balcony where Romeo serenaded Juliet, and, during our walk, see the 1st Century AD Roman Arena (€4 entry fee) which was among the largest of the Roman Empire's, accommodating 25,000 spectators. Still well preserved, it is one of Europe's most important operatic venues during the summer months. We'll continue our return trip to Germany through the scenic alpine region of Switzerland, arriving at points of origin late at night.

CHILDREN: 3-12 years of age receive a $20 discount. Although not recommended, under 3, require a bus seat and their own safety seat (not provided), pay $179.

DOCUMENTS: Valid US Tourist Passport for military & civilian personnel. Military without tourist passport should check with their Personnel Office or the Foreign Clearance Guide for information on current travel regulations to Switzerland, Austria and Italy. It is the responsibility of NON US CITIZENS to meet proper VISA requirements for ALL countries.

CANCELLATION FEES (Per Person): More than 14 days prior to departure, $80; within 14-7 days prior, $120; 7 days or less, 50% of tour price will be charged.
