ITINERARY
1 Overnight Itinerary
DAY 1: Evening departure from various pick-up points.
DAY 2: Traveling via the most expeditious route, we'll arrive in Berlin in the early morning. After breakfast (not incl), we'll embark on a Grand City Tour of Germany's reunited capital city. Some of the historic sights you'll see: the Rathaus Schöneberg, the City Hall where JFK made his historic "Ich bin ein Berliner" speech; the Kurfürstendamm, Berlin's bustling Broadway; Kaiser-Wilhelm Memorial Church, the symbol of Berlin; Olympic Stadium; the Brandenburg Gate; Rote Rathaus, former East Berlin's City Hall; Alexander Platz; the Unter den Linden, former East Berlin's "Broadway"; the Airlift Memorial at Tempelhof Airporty; the Reichstag and more. The afternoon is free for shopping or own activities. Later you may elect to take a boat ride through the Historical Center of Berlin (€11, weather permitting). Your tour guide can assist with dinner arrangements at a typical Berlin Gästhaus, the Wirtshaus Alte Stadt-Mauer, offering a range of menus (€20), before checking in to our First Class Hotel. Later, why not experience Berlin's night life.
DAY 3: Following breakfast and check-out, the morning is free for your own sightseeing activities or join in on an optional tour (€30) to Potsdam, a town of palaces and gardens and for centuries the favorite residence of the Prussian royalty. Among the historical sights in Potsdam's beautiful setting of woodlands and lakes are; Sanssouci Palace, Sanssouci Park, Cecilienhof Palace, Brandenburg Gate at the end of Brandenburger Strasse, the Church of St. Nicholas opposite the Old Town Hall and more. We begin our return journey home in the mid afternoon, arriving at points of origin late at night.

DAY 3: We depart early for a full-day optional excursion (€40) offering a variety of historical highlights. We begin with a visit to the Pergamon Museum, home to numerous artifacts, many dating back to the 8th and 9th c. B.C. - a major highlight being the reconstructed Pergamon Altar. We then briefly visit the once summer residence of the Prussian royal family, Charlottenburg Castle. Then it's on to Potsdam which for centuries was the favorite residence of the Prussian royalty. Historical sights include: Frederick the Great's Sans-Souci Palace, where you'll marvel at the splendor of the gardens; and Cecilienhof Palace, scene of the Allied Conference following WW II. We return to our hotel in the late afternoon and rest up before the evening's activities - there are over 7,000 pubs, bars, night clubs and restaurants. Tickets to the theatre is another possibility - check with your tour guide for availability.
DAY 4: After breakfast and check-out, there will be free time for shopping or sightseeing. Why not visit the largest department store on the European continent, - the KaDeWe (Kaufhaus des Westens) its a more than well-stocked shopping paradise. Afterwards you may join in for a visit to Checkpoint Charlie with the "Mauermuseum" (not incl. €12,50), one of Berlin's most frequented museums, also known as the first museum of international non-violent protest, with exhibitions including Mahatma Gandhi's diary. The museum at "Haus am Checkpoint Charlie" was expanded from a two bedroom apartment overlooking the checkpoint, which separated East and West Berlin during the Cold War. It was designated as the single crossing point (by foot or by car) for foreigners and members of the Allied forces. We begin our return journey home in the mid afternoon, with a dinner stop enroute, arriving at points of origin late at night.

CHILDREN: 3-12 years of age receive a $10 discount on 1 overnight tour and a $20 discount on 2 overnight tour. Under 3, require a bus seat and their own safety seat (not provided), pay $129 on 1 Overnight Tour and $159 on 2 Overnight Tour. Children 12 & under travel free on optional tours except for entrance fees and boat rides.
CANCELLATION FEES (Per Person): More than 14 days prior to departure, $70.; within 14-7 days prior, $100.; 7 days or less, 50% of tour price will be charged.
